Rosy adds a touch of maternal care and charm to their happy home. She is twelve years old, and the replacement mother of the family. Let me tell you a little bit about each of the sisters. I like to think that they stay young forever. There are four books: The Penderwicks, The Penderwicks on Gardam Street, The Penderwicks at Point Mouette, and The Penderwicks in Spring. The only one I have not read is The Penderwicks in Spring, because it takes place when the girls are all grown-up, and they don’t have their old dog anymore, and I couldn’t bring myself to read it. He is rather forgetful, but somehow always squeezes in time to spend with his four daughters. They live with their father because their mother passed away when Batty was first born. There are four sisters: Rosalind, Skye, Jane, and Batty. It’s sort of like a modern day Little Women. ![]() It is called The Penderwicks, written by Jean Birdsall.
